Jewellery Care Instructions

All Hare & Fern Jewellery orders come with a polishing cloth to keep your jewellery shiny. Please store your polishing cloth in a plastic zip bag after use.

As an artist, I unfortunately can't predict how will someone's skin react to any jewellery item or whether it will react at all. Tarnishing (jewellery turning dark) and green staining of the skin are both natural and harmless reactions of a human body and therefore cannot be reason for a return or exchange. Whether these reactions will occur is highly individual and depends on one's skin acidity and exposure to chemicals in i.e. water, air, cleaning products and toiletries. Some people are able to wear a piece of jewellery for years without any tarnishing, while others turn their jewellery black within hours.

It is highly recommended to remove your jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming, cleaning, gardening or using any sort of creams, perfumes, hair colours and other cosmetic products. Jewellery should be handled with care and stored in an environment free of moisture, chemicals and sharp items that could damage your jewellery, i.e. in an anti-tarnish bag inside a jewellery box.

In case tarnishing does occur, it is best to use a gentle cleaning aid such as polishing cloth. Another option is buying a small, inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner. I discourage using popular homemade cleaning solutions such as toothpaste. By using such methods you're risking damage to metal and/or gemstones.
